Short domain names in Portugal

On November 3, 2014, the Portuguese registry will change the conditions for the registration of domains under the country's top-level domain .pt, thus allowing short domain names with only two characters.

As a rule, there is one registry per toplevel, which is responsible for the conditions for the registration of the corresponding toplevel. One of the conditions concerns the given length of domain names. This is usually between three and 63 characters. A few registries also allow fewer characters. For example, since October 2009, DENIC has allowed the registration of domain names with only one character.

In addition to the usual characters of 0-9 and a-z, twelve characters from the Portuguese alphabet are also permitted, so that 2,209 possible short domain names can be registered with the usual exceptions. The hyphen "-" as the only permitted special character from all registries is of no importance for these short domain names, as it must not be either first or last.

Take your chance now to register short domain names with two characters in Portugal. Please feel free to contact the 123domain.eu team directly by e-mail at info@123domain.eu or by phone at +49 231 58698-123.
