Sweden shortens the minimum length of a domain name to one letter

Sweden is not only the largest country in Scandinavia in terms of area, it also has the largest number of domains registered in this region with over 1.3 million.

As usual, the Swedish registry sets the conditions for the registration of .se domains and plans to change them shortly. From May 27, 2015, the minimum length for domain names will be reduced from currently 2 characters to 1 character. With this extension, the number of domains will not skyrocket, but interested parties now have the opportunity to register additional domains.

In addition to the usual characters 0-9 and a-z, other letters, for example from the Hebrew alphabet, are permitted. 18 new domain names will be awarded in an auction that is scheduled for June 10, 2015.
